Be still and know that I am God.
(Psalm 46:10).
My favorite way to start each day is to wake up early, sit with a cup of coffee, my journal, and prayer devotionals. It truly helps me prepare for each day, and I honestly feel like my days run so much smoother when I take quiet time in the morning. When I don’t get the chance to have my quiet time in the morning, I love grabbing a devotional and watching my kiddos play while I read a few pages. Because of my time in prayer, I feel joyful, at peace, and patient throughout the day. It is truly amazing how my life has been transformed through this devoted quiet time. I never knew how much I needed it until I started my quiet time and now I can’t go a day without it. My early morning time is anti-hustle and bustle, anti-distraction, and it is my time to spend with the Lord. There is nothing better in my opinion! I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite Christian devotionals + one I just ordered on Amazon that I can’t wait to devour. Let’s check it out!

Awaken: 90 Days with the God Who Speaks by Priscilla Shirer
This is one of my favorite devotionals that I have continued to re-read for the past few years. Each reading starts with a piece of scripture, further explanation of the scripture passage, then how it can be applied to your life. Priscilla Shirer then provides a prompt to engage the text and space to wrestle and think about each reading. A great devotional for anyone who is struggling to hear God’s voice or needs direction in their life.
Embraced by Lysa Terkeurst
Each reading begins with a quote from scripture and then Lysa applies the scripture to her own life experiences. From there she seamlessly begins to direct the scripture to how it relates to your life. Lysa speaks to the heart of a woman with struggles we all face. A quick read in the morning but helps prepare for my day ahead.
The Bible in 52 Weeks: A Yearlong Bible Study for Women by Kimberly D. Moore
This book was so inspiring for me! Dr. Kimberly Moore provides powerful daily readings and scripture with real life application. Every page is filled with guidance and spiritually-rich readings and reflections. This book is so simple but so transformative in every way. I love how encouraging it is! A devotional I keep coming back to.
The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry: How to Stay Emotionally Healthy and Spiritually Alive in the Chaos of the Modern World by John Mark Comer
I’m anticipating a little brown box with this book in it at anytime on my doorstep. I am so excited for this book and have heard so many great things about it. It’s about society’s constant state of hurry and how we can better our lives by slowing down. It’s about learning to truly rest even when it seems no one around you takes the time to do so themselves. I’ll let you know what I think after I read it!

These devotionals have truly changed my life and I hope they will do the same for you!
