It took me a long time to let go of the steering wheel to my life. I wanted my life to go a certain way, a path I had already chosen without consulting with the Lord. I just flippantly made decisions I felt would suit me best in the moment. I took many wrong turns, some that I could have avoided if I had only listened to my intuition. I have since realized that intuition is the Lord gently pushing you towards His path, but his great gift to us is our ability to choose our path, even though sometimes we know our decisions are pushing back against his quiet whisper.
When I decided I wanted Jesus to lead the path for my life, I came back to Jesus like the prodigal son with my head hanging low. I felt the warmth of his spirit within me. He didn’t want me to feel guilt of shame, he wanted me to experience his warm embrace of forgiveness. It took me along time to forgive myself for the mistakes I made but I knew I had been granted the gift of God’s forgiveness.
From then on, I let go of the steady grip I had on my life and let God take control. My life has been completely transformed by experiencing the joy of life in the present moment, to have no worries of what is to come, and to have let go what has passed. This is something I have to work on daily but it is so worth it!
God knows his plans for you and they are good. “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future”(Jeremiah 29:11). Can you trust in the Lord to show you which paths in life to take? If you take the time to listen he will show you. If you ask him to take the wheel, he will. If you are currently in a challenging time or maybe you are in need for direction in your life, ask Jesus to take the wheel, and be ready for an unexpected life adventure you never thought you were capable of!

I absolutely loved this article on describing what intuition is and how to recognize it here.
I hope this helps open a dialogue with you and the Lord to discover which direction you should go in this thing we call life.
